"2023 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE (NEC®) UPDATES: SOLAR AND STORAGE SYSTEMS?

As solar installations increase in complexity, it’s vital that installers and designers understand the latest National Electrical Code (NEC®) requirements, having been adopted in all 50 United States as well as many other nations. The 2023 edition builds on a continually-evolving body of work, covering design and installation requirements for PV and energy storage systems. This course is an in-depth look at changes and updates to the 2023 NEC that reflect how PV, other generation sources, storage, and management and control systems interact in new and exciting ways. While it is not a complete look at all NEC requirements, the focus is on what has changed or is new, so you can stay up-to-date on what it takes to effectively design and install solar in today’s modern infrastructure. For the second cycle running, SEI has actively participated in the NEC update process, with two representatives on both Code-Making Panels 4 and 13; these Panels work on all of the Articles covering the most important requirements specific to renewable energy and storage systems. Here’s your chance to get the latest on 2023 NEC changes, developed and delivered by folks who were in the room helping write the rules.

"INTRO TO LARGE SCALE O&M

This course is targeted toward entry-level technicians, and will introduce concepts and strategies used in day-to-day O&M of large-scale PV systems. Safety is a primary focus, including assessing physical and electrical hazards, creating an electrically safe work environment, using disconnecting means and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) to segment systems, personal protective equipment (PPE), and selecting and safely using electrical meters.

Marshall Brunson

Marshall Brunson
Instructor, Solar Energy International – SEI (CO)

When he was a child, Marshall had a toy solar kit with a PV cell attached to a fan motor. It was as good as magic, and that sense of magic has never dimmed. Seeking adventure after a short run as an IT professional, Marshall dove into the solar industry in 2012 installing residential and commercial PV systems in Florida and Tennessee. After studying at SEI in 2016, he earned his NABCEP PVIP certification, then went to work in the large-scale PV sector supporting central inverters at Power Electronics. Since 2018 Marshall has been dedicated to training and education in the solar field and is thrilled to be a part of the SEI team. He lives with his family in Gainesville, FL where the live oaks bring relaxing shade, and the beach is just a short trip away.
