This full day workshop is a definitive introduction to WELL.
Participants will build on introductory topics, such as the
organization and de3velo0pment of the WELL Building Standard, to
intermediate topics, which outline key processes within WELL
Certification. Key public health research is discussed to
provide a basis for the seven WELL Concepts, and project support
tools and resources are outlined. The process for developing
Alternative Adherence Paths are presented in the context of a
scenario. As well as procedures for seeking equivalencies, using
Cross walks, and developing innovations. Finally, preconditions
are presented in the context of a project scenario, and a
breakout activity which utilizes expert groups and a project
checklist allows participants to consolidate their learning.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

public health issues which underpin them.

Daniel Huard, LEED Fellow, WELL Faculty, PMP, LFA, ASHRAE CPMP, GGA, GPCP,
CEO, Global Green Tag International, Founding Principal Humann Building Solutions, LLC.
A lifelong learning proponent, Daniel has
long been a sought‐after Green Building expert. Daniel
received degrees in Mechanical Engineering,
Architecture, Masters of Architecture and Masters of
Urban Planning. Beyond professional degrees Daniel
professional accreditations include: GGA, GGP and GPCP
from Green Building Initiative, LEED Fellow with LEED AP
O+M and LEED AP BD+C specialties from GBCI, PMP from
Project Management Institute, LFA from International
Living Future Institute, WELL Faculty and WELL AP from
IWBI, and ASHRAE Commissioning Process Management
Professional. Daniel’s professional expertise has
contributed to numerous domestic and international High
Performance Building, Sustainable and Restorative
Development projects and international events. |

Al Skodowski, LEED
Fellow, LEED AP O+M, LEED AP BD+C | President, Rivion
Al is the Principal of
Rivion. He serves as chief strategist and heads business
development for the company. Al started in the building
operations and maintenance industry with Hyatt
Hotels in Milwaukee and worked through the ranks to
become an Assistant Chief
Engineer. He opened the 1000 North Water Street office
building in downtown Milwaukee as the Chief Engineer and
then worked as the Chief Engineer, Operations Manager
and Property Manager for the Milwaukee Center. He was
the National Director of Engineering for Great Lakes
Reit and developed a complete in house operations and
maintenance team to oversee operations of the complete
portfolio. When Great Lakes Reit was purchased by
Transwestern, Al’s role expanded to cover all of the
company’s Midwest properties. He then served as SVP and
Director of LEED and Sustainability for Transwestern and
led the Transwestern Sustainability Services team in
Milwaukee. The TSS group grew to manage Transwestern’s
corporate energy and sustainability efforts along with
servicing Transwestern clients and outside clients
globally. Al was the Chairman of the BOMA international
Energy and Environment Committee which developed a
framework around energy data and benchmarking. He served
on the local Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Green
Building Alliance (WGBA), as well as the United States
Green Building Alliance (USGBC) National Board, where he
held the position of Chairman of the Board. Al was
awarded the USGBC award for Individual Leadership in
2010. He has stayed active with the USGBC, most
specifically on the LEED Dynamic Plaque – Arc Platform,
The WELL Certification program, and the development and
construction of the William Jefferson Clinton Children’s
Center – Project Haiti Orphanage in Port Au Prince
Haiti. |

Emma Hughes, LEED AP
BD+C LEED Project Manager, US Green Building Council
Emma is a Project Manager in the LEED Department at
USGBC. She collaborates with industry stakeholders,
sustainability professionals, and USGBC and GBCI staff
to develop and refine the LEED green building rating
system. Emma supports the technical development and
maintenance of LEED credits, guidance, and associated
tools, and serves as staff liaison to multiple
committees, networks of diverse volunteer experts who
help define the best practices and requirements in LEED
that guide better design, construction, and operations
of the built environment. She earned her B.S. in
International Relations from Boston University.

Tom
Herron, LEED Green Associate, MBA
Senior Director, Market Development & Engagement, NFRC
Tom Herron is the Senior Director, Market
Development and Partner Engagement for the National
Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC). He has worked as a
newspaper reporter, business development manager, and
most recently in marketing and communications. Tom has
an MBA from the University of Maryland and a graduate
certificate in Nonprofit Management from Harvard. He
served as vice-chair on the board of directors for the
Sustainable Buildings Industry Council and is a LEED
Green Associate.
