HOW TO MITIGATE HAZARDS IN PV + STORAGE SYSTEMS & BATTERIES.  
The different battery technologies and chemistries used in the PV industry have different installation, maintenance, storage, and transportation requirements that can lead to fatal consequences if not conducted properly. This course focuses on Energy Storage System safety, and to bring awareness to the hazards common to this type of system and the various control methods used to eliminate, ideally or mitigate those hazards.

INTERCONEXIONES EN SISTEMAS FV COMERCIALES E INDUSTRIALES
¿Eres un diseñador, instalador, administrador de proyectos o electricista con experiencia en sistemas fotovoltaicos residenciales y quieres pasar a sistemas de mayor escala? Esta presentación te introducirá en los conceptos importantes que deberás comprender para diseñar e interconectar con éxito sistemas FV a una red eléctrica trifásica. Repasaremos las configuraciones trifásicas más comunes y veremos qué tipo de información se necesita de un sitio para poder completar el diseño de un sistema comercial. También veremos distintos ejemplos de dispositivos comerciales y debatiremos métodos sobre cómo y dónde interconectar un sistema FV en grandes instalaciones comerciales. Además, ofreceremos una visión general de los distintos tipos de equipos que probablemente se vayan a utilizar..

COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL PV INTERCONNECTION OPTIONS
Are you an experienced residential PV system designer, installer, project manager, or electrician looking to move into larger-scale systems? This presentation will introduce the important concepts you’ll need to understand in order to successfully design and interconnect PV systems to a three-phase utility grid. We will review the most common three-phase utility configurations and cover what kinds of information is needed from a site in order to be able to complete a commercial system design. We will also look at different examples of commercial switchgear and discuss methods for how and where to interconnect a PV system on larger commercial sites. Additionally, we will provide an overview of the different types of equipment that you are likely to be using.

Las diferentes tecnologías y químicas de baterías de la industria FV tienen distintos requisitos de instalación, mantenimiento, almacenamiento y transporte que pueden tener consecuencias fatales si no se realizan correctamente. Este curso se centra en la seguridad de los Sistemas de Almacenamiento de Energía, y en concienciar sobre los peligros comunes de este tipo de sistemas y los distintos métodos de control utilizados para idealmente eliminar o mitigar esos peligros.

When he was a child, Marshall had a toy solar kit with a PV cell attached to a fan motor. It was as good as magic, and that sense of magic has never dimmed. Seeking adventure after a short run as an IT professional, Marshall dove into the solar industry in 2012 installing residential and commercial PV systems in Florida and Tennessee. After studying at SEI in 2016, he earned his NABCEP PVIP certification, then went to work in the large-scale PV sector supporting central inverters at Power Electronics. Since 2018 Marshall has been dedicated to training and education in the solar field and is thrilled to be a part of the SEI team. He lives with his family in Gainesville, FL where the live oaks bring relaxing shade, and the beach is just a short trip away.

Carlos es Ingeniero Electromecánico con 25 años de experiencia en proyectos de energías renovables, destacando sistemas aislados. Actualmente se desempeña en diseño, instalación, inspección, puesta en marcha y mantenimiento de soluciones de energía fotovoltaica, tanto en sistemas integrados como aislados a la red eléctrica.
Ha participado en consultorías y diseños de proyectos superiores a 1 MW a nivel nacional como internacionales mediante diversas soluciones de generación de energía. También ha sido miembro de equipos de proyecto para consultoría especializada como Due-Dilligence de proyectos, colaboración en estudios de pre y factibilidad para plantas grandes solares con y sin acumulación, CSP (Energía Solar de Concentración), eólica, Curva de Abatimiento CR, entre otros.
Es miembro activo de la Comisión de Energías Renovables del Colegio de Ingenieros Electricistas, Mecánicos e Industriales de Costa Rica. Ha sido expositor y profesor universitario en materias afines a Energías Renovables, cuenta con la certificación NABCEP y con una Maestría en Energías Renovables.
